Rising Phoenix Jaycee members spent last Saturday helping the Liholiho Elementary School Parent Teacher Association (PTA) raise money for campus improvement and supplementary projects. Although RPJ was initially tasked to package prepared food, the PTA Food Committee Chair asked RPJ to cook fried noodles instead on a single propane wok outside the cafeteria. Throughout the day, RPJ garnished up 255 servings of fried noodles and re-heated kalua pig for sandwiches and rice bowls. RPJ members were also pulled to the malasada tent, where they fried, cooled, and sugared the ono malasadas. RPJ Director at Large, Ryan Murabayashi, shared, “Volunteering at the Liholiho Elementary School Fun Fair was a very enjoyable experience. As a volunteer, it was rewarding to contribute to the fun the families had while they were participating in rides, activities and partaking in the food. Add on the fact that the proceeds benefit the school and it becomes even better. I also learned how to make malasadas!”

A special THANK YOU goes to Ryan Lee, Anna Lee, Ryan Murabayashi, Dennis Ho, Karen Nakagawa, Nate Martin, Eve Epitome, and Katrina Fernandez for their help and representing RPJ at this community event!
