Ryan John (RJ) Mercado

PRESIDENT

Ryan John (RJ) loves video games, crafts, cosplay, and playing tennis. During Hawai‘i’s COVID shutdown, RJ worked over 80 hours/12 hour work days a week adjudicating both Unemployment benefits and Workers’ Compensation Claims as a Hearings Officer at the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations. Jaycees is such a positive escape for him and he truly believes in the Jaycee creed that “Service to humanity is the best work of life!”

Travis Oshiro

IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT

Travis Oshiro currently works for the US postal service and is a graduate of Roosevelt High School and Kapiolani Community College. Travis enjoys his time with Shay, pau hana’s, running, playing volleyball, tennis, and wants to beat Director Kama in at least one game in Pickleball. During his time in the Jaycees, he learned that no matter who you are or what you do, you can always create positive change in the community.

Randall Landry

TREASURER

Randall holds his Bachelors of Arts in Philosophy and Political Science from the University of Texas - Pan American as well as his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Texas School of Law. He is a licensed attorney in Hawaii and currently employed at the Hawaii Department of Transportation as the Title VI Coordinator. Randall also serves as a member of the State of Hawaii Language Access Advisory Council. During his spare time, he enjoys weightlifting, fishing, traveling, mastering the art of coffee, reading, anime and collecting Gundam models. Randall got introduced to the Jaycees by Eve Epitome. Randall and Eve are also active in the Transportation toastmasters club.

Charisse Tanabe

SECRETARY

Charisse is a graduate of Hawaii Pacific University with a degree in Business Administration. She currently works for the City and County of Honolulu. Charisse likes to play sports such as frisbee, volleyball, and basketball. During her free time she likes to do outdoor activities like diving.

Kristen Nakamura

DIRECTOR

Kristen is a graduate of Roosevelt HS and the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Family Resources. Kristen likes to play recreational sports like frisbee, volleyball, and flag football. When Kristen is not playing sports or working, she likes to listen to music and be outdoors.

Kamaha`o (Kama) Arita

DIRECTOR

Kama has a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science from Pacific University where he played collegiate-level baseball with the intention of becoming a physical therapist. After his college career ended, he found a new passion for pickleball with goals of becoming a pro and being a pickleball coach. One of his goals this year with RPJ is to start and lead a pickleball league so that many people can enjoy and learn the sport he loves.

Josiah Clay

DIRECTOR

Josiah currently works for the City and County of Honolulu, the Mililani Town Association, and his sole proprietorship. He graduated from Grand Canyon University with a degree in marketing. His interests include playing volleyball, ube flavored anything, and long walks on the beach. He has been a member of RPJ for one year and looks forward to helping give back to a community that has given him so much.
