United States Junior Chamber Recognizes a Hawaii Nominee for the Second Consecutive Year
Honolulu City Council member Tulsi Gabbard has earned a spot among the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce’s Ten Outstanding Young Americans. She will be honored Saturday, June 30th at the organization’s national awards banquet in Des Moines, Iowa. Tulsi was recognized in February by the Hawaii Junior Chamber of Commerce as one of Hawaii’s Three Outstanding Young Persons.
The following are some of Tulsi’s accomplishments:
- Elected to Hawaii’s State Legislature at age 21; currently serving on the Honolulu City Council
- Served two tours in the Middle East with the National Guard;
- Co-founded the non-profit organization Healthy Hawaii Coalition to help protect the environment, and improve individual and community health;
- Graduated with a degree in International Business from Hawaii Pacific University
Tulsi is the third national honoree with RPJ ties in the past two years. Shane Victorino of the Philadelphia Phillies and Lucas Boyce of the Orlando Magic’s front office were honored among the nation’s best young Americans last year, and both of them were also nominated by RPJ members.
