RPJ Helps Lanakila Spread Holiday Cheer; Programs Need More Support
Dozens of RPJ members and friends helped spread holiday cheer Christmas Day by volunteering for Lanakila Pacific‘s Meals on Wheels program. We helped prepare meals at Lanakila’s senior center in Kalihi, which were then sent to the Moiliili Community Center for distribution to the volunteer delivery drivers, who then delivered the meals to home-bound senior citizens. Thanks again to all of the volunteers. A special mahalo to Michelle Isa, Jennifer Slaton, Lila Johiro, and Jon Nishihara for coordinating the chapter’s effort this season.
RPJ has helped Lanakila Pacific for the past 15 years with the Meals on Wheels holiday meal prep and delivery services, and Lanakila’s senior center in Kalihi needs additional monetary support. According to an article in the Honolulu Advertiser, the organization is facing a $150,000 deficit, and it is seeking donations to make up for the shortfall. The article also highlighted the Moiliili Community Center’s funding needs. Please check out the article, and if you can, please kokua.
