Coed Flag Football Game Draws Many Returnees and New Faces
The NFL may be in its off season, but with RPJ, Sunday morning football is alive and well. Sixteen people participated in the chapter’s June 28th game at Keehi Lagoon. The game featured a great mix of returning players from previous matchups and new talent, and the teams also had the chance to play on a lined flag football field for the first time.
The game got off to a late start (thanks to Elvin’s overheating car), but once it started, the action was fast and furious. The squad with RPJ members Shane Sumida, Joy Awakuni, Mark Kazunaga and Julie Hiromoto among its ranks defeated the team fielding RPJ’s Dawn Martin, Kalani Gasper, Jason King and Elvin Berzabal. Thanks to Eve Epitome for the “refereeing” and to Winston Chow for the videos and pictures.
Keehi Lagoon is the site for a Saturday flag football league, so with the Sunday game date, folks had the opportunity to play on that league’s lined field. Good times, and we hope to see more folks come out for the next game.
