RPJ Members and Friends Assist at the Track & Field and Victory Dance Venues
Fifteen members and friends helped out at this year’s Special Olympics Summer Games at the University of Hawai‘i-Manoa, including a few new faces. It was another hot afternoon on the track as nine RPJ members helped officiate the finish line tent, serving as timers, athlete escorts and cheerleaders. At the end of the day, volunteers and officials hit the track for a friendly 4x100m relay event. RPJ’s Kate Weir anchored the Officials Team, securing a third place finish. A special mahalo to our fellow members who also helped that afternoon: Momi Tamashiro, Corey Haitsuka, Elvin Berzabal, Eve Epitome, Dennis Ho, Winston Chow, Gayle Takasaki and Kern Nishioka. The chapter also lended some muscle that night as security personnel for the Victory Dance at Klum Gym. Along with Eve, Elvin and Winston, Dawn Martin, Julie Hiromoto, Shelby Taguma, Rica Castaneda, Kimberly Kim and Filipino Jaycees member Karen Nakagawa served as chaperones for the annual celebratory dance event. Thank you again to our members and friends for all of your help. Next up for the Special Olympics is the Aukake Classic, a bocce ball tournament. More pictures after the break.
