Nathan Martin to Lead RPJ in 2013; Positions Still Available for Willing Members
RPJ’s 2013 Board of Directors offers a mix of youth and experience with two new faces and the return of an old friend. The new board was elected Tuesday night at the Bikini Cantina in Aloha Tower Marketplace. Stepping up to lead the chapter next year is current Membership Development Vice President and Treasurer Nathan Martin. Nate has been a familiar face on the courts for years, and this is his first year serving on the board. He’s enthusiastic and hard-working, and he has the skills to lead the chapter in 2013. Karen Nakagawa will serve as the Executive Vice President next year. Karen recently joined the chapter, but she is a veteran member of the Filipino Junior Chamber. Karen was the 2010 Hawaii Jaycees New Member of the year, and she’s currently serving this year on the Hawaii Jaycees Executive Board of Directors as treasurer. Her knowledge is bolstered by her high spirits and good nature, and she will be a positive force for next year’s board. Jarvis Graham makes a return to the board in 2013 as Community Development Vice President after previously serving on RPJ’s 2011 Board. Jarvis is highly-intelligent and brings a wealth of community experience. Jarvis recently worked on this year’s Adopt-A-School Day Project, and she is familiar with all of the chapter’s other community projects and events. Sports Director Daniel Young learned of the chapter through his cousin, current RPJ Sports Director Mike Young. Daniel plays in both Sunday leagues, and even though he is new to the chapter, he is a great supporter of University of Hawaii athletics and has already made or solicited numerous donations to chapter sports projects and Palolo Gym. Rounding out the 2013 Board is current Chapter President Elvin Berzabal, who will serve as the Chairman of the Board.
Several positions are still available for interested and willing members. Please email the board at email@example.com for more information.
